Teaser Tuesdays

Quote a couple of spoiler-free sentences from the book you’re reading to tempt others.

"Immortality of a kind, a limited immortality, is not so hard to achieve after all. Why then does he persist in inscribing marks on paper, in the faint hope that people not yet born will take the trouble to decipher them?"
Summertime by J.M. Coetzee

That's not fair to post a teaser from a book which hasn't been published yet :p *envious*

No, it's not fair... but put it this way, if I'm reading it now then it means I'll be able to loan it to you next week!

That was the plan... but I was too tempted! I have enough time left on library books to read them afterwards.

That is just mean!! I need to know these kind people in Random House.

Ever since I read Diary of a Bad Year, I've Coetzee's writing style. Disgrace soon followed, so I wa really excited to see a book by him on the shortlist.

Since reading Disgrace only last month I was delighted to see him on the longlist too as I really want to read more by him and once the Booker is over I intend to get cracking.
