Teaser Tuesdays

Quote a couple of spoiler-free sentences from the book you’re reading to tempt others.

Cheating slightly by using the opening lines:

"What I warn you to remember is that I am a detective. Our relationship with truth is fundamental but cracked, refracting confusingly like fragmented glass."
In the Woods by Tana French

I've read some great reviews of this book. Hope you like it. I wanted to let you know, too, that I read Snow, Glass, Apples for Short Story Monday this week - a giant step outside my comfort zone, but fun! Thanks again for posting the link.

Verity, it is an intriguing opening line and I have a suspicion that it has a bearing on how the story and solving of the crime unfold.

JoAnn, it was mainly through blogging (and one online friend) that I came across this novel too. It's a departure from my usual reading but I'm enjoying it.
You're very welcome for the link; I'm glad you read it and enjoyed it. I'll be stopping by your blog later to have a read.

I read this earlier in the year and thought it very good.

I've got the follow up lying in wait.

Evokes images of a strong jaw, a fedora and a trench coat. That's just me.

Great opening lines!

Kim, glad to hear you enjoyed it and hopefully will likewise enjoy the sequel.

Darlene, it is quite noir-like, isn't it? It's set in modern Ireland although like any stereotypical detective story, there's a great deal of alcohol/liquor!
