Teaser Tuesdays

I have noticed teasers on Tuesdays across many blogs but have never participated until now. The principle of Teaser Tuesdays is to quote a couple of spoiler-free sentences from the book you’re reading to tempt other readers. As the book I am currently reading originated in blogging, the quote I have chosen concerns blogging, then blogging about this for my first teaser Tuesday seemed quite apt.

From what started as a blog, is now a book, and is soon to be a Nora Ephron movie starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams:

"Nowadays anybody with a crap laptop and Internet access can sound their barbaric yawp, whatever it may be. But the surprise is that for every person who's got something to say, it seems there are at least a few people who are interested. Some of them aren't even related."
(Julie & Julia by Julie Powell, pg. 96)

Thank you for being interested, and for being interested when those who are related aren't!

Verity, here is an explanation for teasers:

I interpreted it as something that would tease and intrigue blog readers and perhaps convince them to read the book.

Diane, it has been on my TBR list for some time and, so far, I am really enjoying it.

Thank you. I'll do that later, as I was wondering how to blog about the book I'm reading at the moment :)

Yay! It works as a good filler post on the days when there are no new books to review and/or no post ideas, time, nor inspiration.

It's also a good way of introducing people to books they might not have come across or picked up otherwise. I have had a wonderful response to teasers from a couple of Persephone Books. As to Julia & Julia, I heard a radio interview with Julie Powell around the time the book came out and my interest was piqued, but when I picked up the book it didn't speak to me. I may try it again though, in case it was just the wrong moment.

Oh, I didn't know this was going to be a movie! The book is on my wish list.

Like JoAnn, I didn't know there was a movie coming out. I am always in the mood for a Meryl Streep picture!

FleurFisher, it was your teasers that inspired me. I admire bringing Persephones to the masses!
I can understand J&J not being for everyone, although I hope you fare better with it at another moment.

JoAnn & Samantha, the book was on my wishlist for a while but wanted to eventually read it before seeing the movie. Stay tuned for my review - I'll try and include the trailer!

I loved this book when I read it a while ago - so funny! I'm looking forward to the movie too - not sure how they are going to capture the essence of the book in movie form but I'm sure it will be fun to watch.
