Quote a couple of spoiler-free sentences from the book you’re reading to tempt others.
"[H]ow was it that Finn's silences turned my words into dust? No matter how heartfelt my thoughts, the noises I made when I was with him took on the quality of monkeys jabbering in trees. While his silence had the power to shatter glass."
What I Was by Meg Rosoff, p. 71
I cheated slightly by quoting three lines rather than two but I enjoy that last line too much, and the preceding paragraph, and many of the passages in the novel.

I loved that book, and her other titles. And that quotation shows how very well Meg Rosoff writes. I hope you're enjoying it!
It is beautifully written.
I actually cheated a LOT as I am no longer reading this book; I finished it last night but haven't started reading anything new yet (other than Ulysses). Besides, it was too good not to tease with.
I'll review it later this week.
Teaser Tuesdays are a great way of getting you to take a look at books that you otherwise might not be tempted by. I just had a peek on Amazon to see what this title was about and it has some pretty terrific reviews. An author to look for!
Oh she definitely is, Darlene!
Her books are Young Adult, which may put you off, but read my review later this week to make up your mind. It's a great book.
There are some really fantastic young adult books out there - I have one on my library tbr pile which I must read as I've renewed it the maximum number of times, which I will write about soon!
Ooh, which one, Verity?
I really loved If I Stay by Gayle Forman, which I read and reviewed last month. I'm not sure if I can tell which I enjoyed more, that or What I Was; both were exceptionally good.
It's the latest Jaclyn Moriarty, called The spell book of Listen Taylor. I loved Finding Cassie Crazy, and Becoming Binty Mackenzie.
I haven't come across If I stay but your review and Amazon make me think I'd like it...*goes to order book at library* - grr, they don't yet have any copies.
Verity, I'll need to look out for those books.
If I Stay is newly published so perhaps your library will have it soon - I hope so as it's a great book.
I'm pleased to find someone else who enjoys young adult fiction - I always feel faintly embarrassed borrowing it, I don't know why!
I understand perfectly.
There was a problem finding my request when I went to collect this from the library and it ended up taking some time whilst they hunted for it; I was somewhat embarrassed because even though I am still a young adult in my late twenties (humour me), I felt like a fraud.
*shrugs* I read anything that I want to read.
I had to pick up my Jaclyn Moriarty reservation from the children's department.
But I agree, I read what I want to read. Took out a Kid's Baking book at the weekend and enjoyed it immensely.
The kid's baking cookbook sounds like fun!
