Even More Library Loot

This morning my beloved book bag (left) and myself wandered to the library and picked up even more books! This has to stop. I returned five that I have read and still have four out (currently reading two of these) and collected eight so I have maxed my allowance of twelve; two outstanding requests won't be ready for some time as I am about fourth in the queue so at least I can concentrate upon the ones I currently have. All twelve of them.

Some of the ones I now have I have mentioned in previous posts; I requested some of the Orange Prize shortlisted novels a few weeks ago as well as a couple of other recommendations. Lady Chatterley's Lover is this month's book group choice; I've been wanting to read The Post-Birthday World and The Group recently; Fahrenheit 541 has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember.

This afternoon I am going to try to finish one of the library books I am currently reading as well as hopefully some progress with another, whilst eating strawberries and cherries; I love summer.

I have the pink bag, and I love it.

People of the book sounds like an interesting title - what's it about?

Thank you, Jackie; I love it (it is also one of my favourite iconic book covers, hence the bag, the notebook, and also a poster).

I can't wait to get started on this pile!

Verity, People of the Book was recommended to me by a friend and is about a rare-book restorer, Hanna, who goes to post-Bosnian War Sarajevo to restore a medieval Jewish prayer book. The Sarajevo Haggadeh has been saved by people throughout history (the Nazis, fires of the Inquisition) and the book is about people who destroy books and people who would give their lives to save them. It sounds fabulous and should tie in quite nicely with Fahrenheit 451, albeit unintentionally.

That sounds interesting - I'll look out for it. I love titles with "Book" in them, unsurprisingly. Must write a post about book titles one day...I'm still loving "The dud avocado" which I don't think I'll ever read as the blurb didn't really turn me on but who could resist a title like that?!

Agreed; I love books with "book" in the title and books about books.

I adored The Dud Avocado!

Thanks, Ana.

I am really looking forward to reading these but I am loving being sidetracked by the Children's Lit! I also have a large Amazon order about to be dispatched and am becoming a little overwhelmed -but in a good sense- with the reading at hand.
