Book Meme

This is hardly inspired for so early on in my blog but I don't have time today although I do have the inspiration so look forward to more creative book blogging in the future.

  • Grab the nearest book.
  • Open it to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

"This news encouraged Florentino Ariza, since it indicated to him that the beautiful adolescent with the almond-shaped eyes was within reach of his dreams."

(Love in the Time of Cholera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez)

This is the book I'm currently reading and it is actually a rather poignant quote as at this stage Fermina Daza (the beautiful adolescent) is not within reach of Florentino and his love remains unrequited for over half a century. The novel revolves around the attainability of Fermina's dream and whether Fermina eventually reciprocates his love, upon the death of her husband, Dr. Juvenal Urbino.
